Once again, with NaNoWriMo as my inspiration, I’m attempting to get my writing schedule off the ground. I could site many excused for my laxity: becoming a new mom, trying to survive this pandemic, hitting the four year slump from moving, being stressed…the list could go on forever. But, in the spirit of honesty, the real reason I have not been writing is due to pure laziness. I am undisciplined and I don’t have a writing group this side of the world to keep me accountable.
Things are calming down in the world, slowly but surely. Shops are opening, people are active again, jobs abound. And so, of course, I’d like to recreate a new normal for my life. I’d like to be a stay at home mother, and I’d like to homeschool my babies. I’d also like to earn some income on the side, and I do have a passion for writing. Despite the weirdness of the last four years the desire of my heart is still to be an author. With that in mind, I will be making concerted efforts to take my writing more seriously. That means doing something every day: journaling, working on a poem, short story, or novel. And, of course, attempting to get a post out at least a couple times a month, although I’m aiming for once a week.
If you’d like to join me on this journey, as bumpy and crazy as it will probably end up being, I’d love to have you come along!
Helloooo Montana how lovely to hear from you ๐. You have been missed but we let you off, you have had much to do I am sure.
Look forward to any blogs you manage to write but donโt be hard on yourself if they donโt come as regularly as you want. I have not written a thing for 2 years really, but I know when I am ready to do so I will begin again. Xxx
I hear your Mumbles from Montana, Megan. That mountain looks like the one in the scifi film Close Encounters of the First Kind. Dawn and I started up our small writers group again. i know our times do not coincide but maybe we could help you by giving you encouragement from our meetings. Another lady, Janice, makes 3 of us. We tend to be working on bigger projects like books and the like, but we have zoom meetings sometimes – especially with the whole Covid thing and cost of driving around [petrol R20/L now]. With NaNo, neither Dawn nor I like their new website/dashboard so are doing our own thing, in editing/rewriting/writing our books. I am slogging away at Arachiba. I finished it earlier this year or late last year, but then fell foul of the editing process. In between I also wrote that romance novel but that needs a total rewrite so might switch over to that. Also, my beloved Lenovo blew up and I had to get a new laptop which inadvertently got dropped on its head when being transferred from the hand of one person to another. Should say that I take it out with me when I go since i got broken into and have had several incursion ‘attempts’ and investigations by the criminal element that abounds in this area. We have crime bosses living in Bothasig. Latest thing is to have very poshly dressed and coiffured ladies appear at the front window peering in to see what one has in the lounge. Upon being asked what they want, the comment has been along the lines of looking for work. In no one’s imagination would one see any of these women scrubbing one’s floor etc! I told one to clear off and she accused me of being rude! I had two such women in the space of 15 minutes last month.
Anyhoo, I digress. Let me know if you would like to be a distance member of our small group, young bean. We are more of an encouragement group and discuss one another’s work in our Zoom or FtoF meets [which we have only just started].
Wow! Things do not appear to have calmed at all that side of the world! I would love to be a part of your group, and honestly, even with the time difference, I’m sure I can be up early once or twice a month to zoom! It’s not like it’ll be new, having a baby and all. ๐
Hiya Megan. Go for it. Writing energy has its own rhythms, tides and seasons. I look forward with interest to read your new creations.
Thank you! It’s great to hear from you, I hope you’re well. ^-^
Nice to hear from you Megan!
It’s bizarre that in this day and age, keeping in touch is actually more difficult. Glad to hear that things are starting to normalize. Be proud that you got this piece out. The ‘doing’ part is always the hardest.
Godspeed on the road ahead…
Thank you! I will take your advice and be proud. ๐
Hey Bug,
Just an I love you!!
And I love you!!
Hi Megan,
So glad you’re writing again:-) Or finding time for it. I always knew you would! Once a writer, always a writer, as they say! And you’re always been so good at NaNoWrimo, so have a blast with it. Congrats again on your beautiful family, and all of the very best ๐
Thanks, Sumi! ๐
Proud of you baby girl!!! Keep at it!! You have a gift and we love that you want to share it!! Donโt stress, these is a season for everything xx
Love you, Mom!
Hey Sweetie! I think that you have done pretty good, considering all that’s been transpiring ‘globally’!!! That’s my defense & I’m sticking with it. Plus being a new mamma to a beautiful baby is very time consuming. I know! I remember that it takes ‘hours’ to rock that angel. (I had a little redheaded one!).
After a while, you both will get a routine & you can start putting up those Post a Notes! That’s how I get things done! Don’t know how I did anything before those nifty things. When they are Everywhere, You Have To Do Something!!! I believe in you๐ค ๐
Thank you so much, Mrs Martha! <3
